I had the honor of collaborating with dear friend and talented Bay Area artist Anastasia Tumanova on a group photo shoot to help promote Sanctuary, a show at Heron Arts that features the work of four female Bay Area artists. Opening night is Saturday October 26, and the Panel Discussion is Thursday November 26 6-8pm.
Anastasia of We Are Clay Studio is an artist of ceramic installations and large scale botanical arrangements in clay.
Not only did she put together Sanctuary, she also lead art direction for this session. She brought brought me on board to turn her vision into a reality.
We photographed at the lovely Turrell Skyspace at the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco. The group portraits showcased each artists unique style, while speaking to the natural, simple, meditative aesthetic that these 4 artists share.
After the session I worked with each artist to create a series of portraits that featured their personality and jived with their brand.
In order of appearance:
Alice Weise (fiber arts) is an emerging emerging textile artist from Oakland, California.
Zai Divecha (paper) is a San Francisco-based artist who makes geometric paper sculptures and installations.
Nicole Sweeney (wood) is a San Francisco based artist and female activist.
Here are a few portraits from each artist's session. Be sure to click on the photo to see their work which is STUNNING. You may even be able to purchase a piece which is a perfect holiday gift.
